Punks in the Gym | 8b+ Sport route at Arapiles

Bolted by Martin Scheel.

One of the first 8b+s in the world.

Possibly slightly easier now than for Güllich and Glowacz since the construction of the birdbath hold subsequent to their ascents.

Climber Style Ascent Date Suggested Grade
Martin Scheel Lead | did not finish Between 1st Jan 1983 and 1st Jan 1985

Bolted the route, an extension to Punks in the Gunks, and chipped a hold where the 'birdbath' is now. Tried it intensively over three trips to Australia but was unable to redpoint it.

1 session. Third go.

World’s First one day ascent ever. Took 2 hours start to finish, 2nd RP. First RP was a daft mistake too. What a great route. One with history. Chipped?
