Climbs

Initially climbed on a top rope due to the poor landing in a time when bouldering pads weren't in common use. Since pads have become more widespread bouldered ascents have become the norm.

Jerry Moffatt had recently acquired a pair of Boreal Fire rock shoes which he felt gave him an edge, thus the name.

Named after the boat that first ascentionists Robbie Phillips and Will Birkett travelled to St Kilda in, and the 12th century Norse-Gaelic lord who ruled the western isles of Scotland. [1]

Cuvier Rempart

From base camp in Nepal the route goes through the Khumbu Icefall to camp I, from there the route then goes up the Western Cwm to the base of the Lhotse face and camp II. From here climbers go up the Lhotse face to camp III before gaining a further 500m altitude to reach camp IV on the south col. From camp IV climbers typically attempt a summit push.
