Absolutely Fabulous (Nelson's Column) | E6 Trad climb


E6 6b/c, 1a, 5a. The free climb of London monument Nelson's Column. Pitch 3 climbs the column itself, an endurance pinch-fest said to be the crux.

The column was first aid climbed by Ed Drummond in 1978.

Simon Nadin aided the route, tieing off the lightning conductors, then brought Jerry Moffatt and Johnny Dawes up on a top rope.

Johnny had previously top-roped the route in 1991 with a couple of rests on pitch 3, accompanied by Noel Craine.
