Californian free climber and writer active in the 1960s and 70s. A passionate advocate of a purist ground-up style resulting in bold first ascents. His essay "Tricksters and Traditionalists" is probably the root of the term Trad.(itional) climbing.

Vittorio Ratti was an accomplished climber and mountaineer who was active in the European alps during the first half of the 20th century.

He fought for Italian anti-Fascist partisans in World War 2 alongside Riccardo Cassin and was killed in April 1945.
