Miguel Riera was a Spanish climber, known for his role in developing deep water soloing (or psicobloc) in to a discipline in it's own right. He established many of the earliest DWS lines in Mallorca.

Gritstone climbing, as most English climbing, has become so specialised that it is in danger of loosing its value as a training for mountaineering [1]

Manchester-based Rucksack Club member and climbing partner of Fred Pigott who were collectively known as 'The Inseparables' [2]. Wood was one of the first people to use double ropes. His work on Pigott's Climb (HVS) was the first recoded instance of inserting chockstones into cracks which could be threaded for aid or protection, the precursor to modern nuts.
