Jimmy Jewel was part of the 1980s climbing scene in Llanberis. He was known for his bold solo ascents of many hard testpieces of the time: Right Wall (E5), The Cad (E6), The Axe (E4) and more.
He died whilst down-climbing Poor Man's Peuterey (S) at Tremadog after slipping at the top of the first pitch.
