Climb Grade Style Ascent Date Suggested Grade

2nd asc. spent a few days on it a couple years ago and did it 3rd day this year. Hard route to grade and very specialized. the breakdown is a 2 move 8A+ for the first crux followed by a mini 12d into a 7C+ lurp dyno move. both cruxes involve around one low percentage move each. the outro section is around 8a. At first I thought 9a but after falling off the 2nd crux twice and having to fight in good conditions, I thought this could be harder. Psyched route season begins.

The final 16 days of my trip I put myself in complete isolation in the desert and camped. Every night I just watched video footage of myself on the line to stay psyched. I started talking to myself a lot as if someone was there with me haha. The final week the climb was starting to feel more stressful than fun. I’d wake up every morning with butterflies in my stomach, anxious to know if I could get one more move further or not. Waiting for the point where I was gonna see regression and then that was it for my motivation. But each day I told myself to go one move further... every day was just a training day to get fitter. 2 days before I sent I stuck the final move and fell kicking my toe hook up into the final end jug. I knew then that I had sent... but didn’t. I also knew I had one more good day left before conditions were too hot to do it. I put everything in on that final day and sent. Sent alone (got iPhone footy of the send). It was a powerful feeling doing it alone. My friend Jon Glassberg walked up as I was preparing for the final slab and filmed me topping out. Was a fuckin dope experience that I will take with me into the next projects. [1]

Terremer Third ascent. 8C Boulder | worked 30th Jan 2010

Daniel initially suggested 8C+ but later revised this to 8C.

After returning back and using the new method, The Game felt to be more like a soft v15 than 16. A couple of the holds have seemed to of grown in size from brushing. This new method is different from what I did, so therefore it is a different boulder problem. Before, I could not use these holds since they were not as positive as they are now. Regardless, it is still an amazing boulder! [1]

This was the first time I had done a boulder of this difficulty in a session. It would not have been possible without the help of Dave. He cleaned this line, battled with it, and overcame. Dave inspires me in a way that he can turn nothing into something majestic. He is a wizard and never fails to amaze.

At the time the problem was considered 8B+/C making it one of the hardest flashes ever at the time.

Crazy moment... felt like I was climbing in a dream. The style just fit me perfectly. A perfect power problem out a 50 degree overhang.
