One of the original Sheffield dole climbers of the 1980s, Pretty was there or thereabouts for much of the 1980s and 1990s and still (2026) climbs enthusiastically. His ascent of Make it Funky (8c) whilst not unusually prolonged by modern standards was an early example of multi-year siege.
