Bibliographie | 9b+ Sport route at Céüse

France / Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur / Hautes-Alpes

Bolted by Ethan Pringle.

First bolted by Ethan Pringle who quickly abandoned it as too hard for him. It took Alex Megos a lot of effort over multiple years to finally make the first ascent. Initially proposed at 9c it later settled at 9b+ after a relatively quick repeat by Stefano Ghisolfi.

First ascent. 60 sessions.

Alex initially suggested 9c but after a (relatively) quick repeat from Stefano Ghisolfi (who found some new beta and suggested a downgrade to 9b+) Alex adjusted his suggestion down to 9b+.

Third ascent. 24 sessions.
Fourth ascent.

Bibliographie was a big goal for me this year. Since Alex [Megos] did the first ascent, I was psyched to try something really hard from someone else here in France. Even if Céüse is very far away from my own natural climbing style, I was really motivated to go through the process. A 9b+ in my ‘local’ area, already with 3 ascents by top climbers... it was obvious that I had to try it.

Bibliographie is not a route that particularly suits my strengths, so it was a great challenge to do a 9b+ on tiny crimps. But now it's time to go back to something a little more my style…😉

Fifth ascent. Around 60 sessions.
Sixth ascent. First female ascent.

Clipping the chains, I wasn’t thinking about grades or milestones. I was thinking about how lucky I am. Lucky to have found a passion that still inspires me after all these years. Lucky to share it with people who make every experience richer. Lucky to keep discovering new things about myself through climbing. [2]
