Bernard Newman Solo | ground up

Downhill Racer itself eventually received it's first ground up solo ascent from the photographer and future magazine editor Bernard Newman, who embarked on a long and epic struggle with a furious hailstorm erupting; when the hapless man called for a top rope on the increasingly insecure moves high up Bancroft's words floated forcefully up the slab to him - "You can't ask for a top rope, Bernard. You'll regret it for the rest of your life..." [1]
