One of the original Sheffield dole climbers of the 1980s, Pretty was there or thereabouts for much of the 1980s and 1990s and still (2026) climbs enthusiastically. His ascent of [Make it Funky](/climb/10/make-it-funky) (8c) whilst not unusually prolonged by modern standards was an early example of multi-year siege.
