15655 9th April 2026 09:17:13 UTC remus crag School Room 50° Board notes
Before
Originally built by [Gavin Ellis](/climber/1515/gavin-ellis), [Ben Tye](/climber/3890/ben-tye) and [Andy Coish](/climber/2834/andy-coish) in [Heeley Bank School](https://www.victoriansociety.org.uk/endangered-buildings/heeley-bank-school-sheffield/) community centre in 1993 alongside several other training boards. After the building fell into disrepair Sheffield City Council forced the tenants to leave in 2006. the board was rescued and moved into a new, much more modern facility setup by [Ben Moon](/climber/130/ben-moon). There was an initial period of controversy when it was realised the board had been setup at the wrong angle, but some devotes put in the work to correct the angle and restore the board to it's former glory. ### References [1] [https://www.daveparryphotography.com/blog/school-holds-moon](https://www.daveparryphotography.com/blog/school-holds-moon) [2] [https://www.instagram.com/p/DW41RiXCHC8/?img_index=3](https://www.instagram.com/p/DW41RiXCHC8/?img_index=3) [3] [https://web.archive.org/web/20170828103546/http://www.sheffieldtelegraph.co.uk/news/carry-on-climbing-1-441976](https://web.archive.org/web/20170828103546/http://www.sheffieldtelegraph.co.uk/news/carry-on-climbing-1-441976) [4] [https://web.archive.org/web/20170828103707/http://www.sheffieldtelegraph.co.uk/news/heeley-protesters-win-reprieve-1-441828](https://web.archive.org/web/20170828103707/http://www.sheffieldtelegraph.co.uk/news/heeley-protesters-win-reprieve-1-441828) [5] [https://www.climbing.com/travel/school-room-sheffields-training-facility/](https://www.climbing.com/travel/school-room-sheffields-training-facility/)
