<p>Charles George Malcolm Slesser was a scientist and energy analyst, later professor of Energy at the University of Strathclyde, and an expedition mountaineer: he was a member of the 1952 British North Greenland Expedition and co-led the 1962 British-Soviet Pamirs expedition with John Hunt. <p>Robert Elton was a founder member of the Junior Mountaineering Club of Scotland in 1925 and joined the SMC in 1926; with the Speirs brothers he made the first ascent of Speirs' Variation on the Crowberry Ridge.
