The guide has the FA as Allen Bancroft 1976
The write up in Mountain 43 is fairly clear
At Millstone Edge, Ron Fawcett and Pete Livesey climbed Coventry Street free, grading it XS, and also made early (on sight) repeats of Green Death and Edge Lane.
I wonder whether they did it to the cave, and Allen + Bancroft did the full line?
I've only got July/August 1976 of Mountain and unfortunately no mention of it in there.
Reading Peak Rock, it sounds like Allen/Bancroft made the FFA of Coventry Street Direct, which is now known as just Coventry Street. So Ron and Pete could still have done the FFA off the indirect and superseded version – whatever that was?
Good sleuthing. I wonder what the indirect could have been?

Looking at the topo the obvious candidate feels like it'd be starting up Picadilly Circus then doing the upper section of Coventry street. In theory you could do it the other way round I guess, but there aren't really any easy finishes out of the cave.
Or perhaps indirect meant you climbed to the cave then scuttled off left? i.e. missing out the top of the cave entirely.
To the cave is e4 6b, maybe that was the original

The 1983 BMC guide doesn't do much to clear up the confusion. They credit Allen and Bancroft with the FFA in '75, and describe pretty much the current line except split in to two pitches with a belay in the cave.
