(removed it again to avoid borking the page) Had entered 35.89632° N, 138.57742° E Thought it might be useful for boulder-tourists who don't have the new guide. But maybe that's out of scope for CH?
(it's actually hard to find even with the guide)
Close! It's lat/long but without the N and E, like 35.89631114435004, 138.5774228320784
. Quickest way I've found is if you're in google maps, right click, then it's the top option in the menu.
Would make sense if it also accepted with N and E too, I'll add it to the list.
Thanks! Added the lat long… the river was drawn in slightly the wrong place on the map, so have submitted a correction for that to OSM.
Contributing to all the projects 💪 what's the process like for OSM? Been interested in it as a project for a while but haven't gotten round to having a close look.
Another rabbit hole! Just created an account and dragged the stream position points so they matched the satellite view, then hit save. Didn’t seem to be a moderation process.
Is there any way for the CH user to open a location in a maps app or to extract the lat long?
Nice idea, I've just added a little button above maps. On desktop it takes you to google maps. On mobile it uses the geo:lat, lon
URI scheme which is handled by the device and should open in whatever default maps app the user has set. I've tested on android and it opens in google maps, but havent got an apple device to test on.
Doesn’t work on iPhone : ‘Safari cannot open the page because the URI is invalid’
Thanks for testing. I've swapped it so it just uses a google maps link everywhere. Should work pretty nicely on mobile if people have google maps installed, and will just go to google maps web if you don't.
Works great!
