Anyone know anything about this? The reference in the linked ukc piece is the only time I've heard about it, but I'd have thought the second ascent (?) of such a big route would have been big news and talked about a lot.

Yeah, it's in the old one too (1991) and in Peak Rock. He doesn't mention it in his book. I reckon not making a fuss about it was his flex. Without the Born Slippy gear, getting to the pegs must have felt very bold. Can't find a reference to the long sling taped to the rock. Maybe it was in Patta's OTE article or maybe just rumour and hearsay. Pollitt just has a quickdraw on the pegs in the photos.
