Climbers' Guide to Castle Rock Cleeve Hill (1988) | Guidebook

This guide was prepared by James Collier and Roland Helps who died together in a fall while descending the north ridge of the Alphubel in the Swiss Alps on 29th July 1987.

They would have been grateful for the checking of the route descriptions and gradings done by their friends Sam Bridgewater and Andy Varley.

Although great care has been exercised in the preparation of this guide, climbers should not rely on it blindly in crucial moves, especially as the routes are liable to change due to erosion and the detachment of pieces of rock.

It is many years since the previous guide to Castle Rock was published, and its successor reflects the changes and advances made in climbing in recent years.

We now publish it in memory of James and Roland hoping it will contribute to the enjoyment of this crag.
