A climbing club formed in Manchester on 26 September 1951 by a group of largely working-class climbers, many from the earlier Valkyrie Club. Members including Joe Brown and Don Whillans were at the forefront of British rock climbing in the 1950s. The club was disbanded later in the decade when no one would take over as officers, and was afterwards reformed by Nat Allen and Dennis Gray.
