They are of sound, weathered rock, and the strata tilt at an accommodating angle. Hand and foothold are good and thus there are few climbs of more than standard difficulty. Routes up one or two overhangs provide charming problems but there is little else to detain the expert. Their appeal and interest are for the average man, and they are especially suited as an introduction to Gritstone technique, and to solo climbing. The rocks are about 40 feet high, and almost all are one pitch climbs. They are in private ownership, and permits can be secured; the road is conveniently close. [1]
