In On The Edge 63 [1] there is a mention of Bernabé making the first ascent and suggesting 9a, presumably in 1996, and then in On The Edge 64 there is an update clarifying that the route used several bolted on holds in the upper section. The justification given is that Bernabé thought the route could go on natural holds so didn't want to chip it.
