Britain's first professional mountain guide. MacKenzie was from a Skye crofting family who started guiding through helping tourists reach increasingly inaccessible spots on the island. He is credited with first climbing several key sections of the Cuillin Ridge and other major features of the Cuillin, often with John Norman Collie.
