Jim Holloway is an American climber who played a vital role in the development of bouldering in the United States. Holloway pushed the cutting edge, establishing "Meathook" ~V11/8A and "Trice" V12/8A+ in 1975 (notably before the first established V10/7C+: John Gill's "the Groove" in 1978). In 1977, Holloway made the first ascent of his hardest boulder, "Slapshot" which has yet to have seen a second ascent nearly 50 years later and was potentially in the V13/8B range prior to a hold break.
