Pierre Allain was one of the early pioneers of bouldering in Fontainebleau and a prolific mountaineer, establishing many hard ascents in the Alps. He is also known as the creator of some of the earliest shoes designed specifically for rock climbing, "PAs".
Allain climbed the Eiffel Tower in Paris in 1947 with fellow climbers René Ferlet, Guy Poulet and Jacques Poincenot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfOb12p8eIY
