With Alf Gregory in 1963 he made three first ascents above 18,000 ft in the Cordillera Blanca, and he was a driving force behind the club's 1957 Jugal Himal expedition; librarian and president (1954–56) of the Yorkshire Ramblers' Club. [1] [2]
