Born in Bearsden, he worked at the Scottish Mutual from 1951 to 1991, was secretary and then president of the Glasgow JMCS, helped build the Meagaidh Hut, and became a keen orienteer from 1978. He joined the SMC in 1971 and was Hon. Treasurer from 1997 to 2000. [1]
