George Sang joined the Scottish Mountaineering Club in 1898 and was its Assistant Secretary and then its Secretary; he was also a member and committee member of the Alpine Club and Secretary of the Scottish Ski Club. He climbed extensively in the Alps with W. N. Ling, and was awarded the Albert Medal for rescuing four girls from a burning explosives factory at Rosslyn in June 1916. [1]
