Walter Nelson was a chartered accountant, senior partner of Nelson, Gilmour, Scott & Company, Glasgow, a member of the Alpine Club and a regular climber in Switzerland. He joined the Scottish Mountaineering Club in 1903 and was its Honorary Treasurer (1907-1913) and then Acting Treasurer (1914-1919). [1]
