Chartered accountant and company secretary who was among the founders of the JMCS under the Narnain Boulder in 1925 and made the first ascent of Speirs' Variation on Crowberry Ridge in 1927. He joined the SMC in 1927 and served as Treasurer, Editor, Vice-President and President, holding the presidency in 1957; he was also secretary of the Scottish Ski Club and reached Kilimanjaro's summit in 1966.
