Civil engineer educated at Eton and Cambridge who died alone on Beinn Eunaich. He joined the SMC in 1905 and the Alpine Club in 1904, served in the Navy as a Lieutenant-Commander in command of an auxiliary patrol vessel, was elected SMC Vice-President in 1933 and succeeded to the Presidency in 1936.
