A laird who lived principally at Lindertis in Forfarshire, managing the family property, and the compiler of the 'Tables giving all the Scottish Mountains exceeding 3,000 feet in height' published in the first volume of the Journal, whose summits came to be called 'Munros'. He was a Vice-President of the Scottish Mountaineering Club from 1893 and its President from 1894 to 1897, and died at Tarascon in 1919 while running a canteen for French soldiers. [1] [2] [3] [4]
