William Henry Pearson was a Manchester botanist and an authority on liverworts, author of The Hepaticae of the British Isles. He did his scientific work in his spare time alongside his business, and the University of Manchester gave him an honorary M.Sc. He was an original member of the Rucksack Club, its second chairman of committee from 1904 and later a vice-president, and he died in Withington on 19 April 1923. [1] [2]
