John Rooke Corbett was a founder member of the Rucksack Club, a Cambridge wrangler and a government land valuer. He was the first Englishman to climb all the Munros, and his list of Scottish hills between 2,500 and 3,000 feet became known as the Corbetts. He served many times on the club committee, was a vice-president and an honorary member, and died on 13 August 1949. [1] [2]
