Hermann Woolley was a Manchester manufacturing chemist, Treasurer of Manchester University and President of the Alpine Club. He climbed in the Alps, the Caucasus (first ascent of Dych-tau), Norway, the Lofoten Islands and the Canadian Rockies, and was an original vice-president of the Rucksack Club. He died at Fairfield, Kersal, on 27 February 1920. [1] [2]
