Wilson Hey was a Manchester surgeon at the Manchester Royal Infirmary and the Christie Hospital, known for his prostatectomy operation, and a member of the Alpine Club who climbed for many seasons with Alexander Taugwalder. He founded the Manchester University Mountaineering Club in 1928 and chaired the Mountain Rescue Committee from 1939, and in 1949 was prosecuted over his supply of morphia to rescue kits. He was president of the Rucksack Club in 1936-37. [1] [2]
