Harry Doughty was a Manchester schoolmaster with a first in mathematics from Manchester University, who was drawn into rock climbing by H. M. Kelly and climbed in Britain and the Alps. He edited the Rucksack Club Journal from 1927 to 1934, was president in 1934-35, and was much in demand as an after-dinner speaker. After his death Kelly undertook, at the Committee's request, to edit a volume of his writings. [1] [2]
