Moorhouse and Shirley Smith founded Clogwyn Climbing Equipment (abbreviated to Clog) in North Wales in 1966. Clog manufactured climbing gear including carabiners, pitons and the first full range of hexagonal climbing nuts. Moorhouse left Clog in 1981 and started DMM (Denny Moorhouse Mountaineering) with Fred Hall, Richard Cuthbertson, and Paul Simkiss. DMM continues to produce climbing, arborist and rope access equipment much of which is manufactured in Llanberis.
