Si O'Conor

Quick Info

From: United Kingdom 🇬🇧
Hardest Boulder (Worked): 8B+

An unusual character. He lived in Scotland and claimed many first ascents in remote areas which, on closer inspection, turned out to be completely fabricated.

The tale eventually unravelled when John Watson managed to climb with him on a problem called Atlantic Bridge he had established and for which he suggested 8B+. John suggested 6C was closer to the mark.

HyperBallad 8B+ Boulder | worked Before 1st Jan 2005
First ascent.

On the wild and woolly Lewis shorelines of Europaidh and surrounding areas, I have added a line I've been trying since before the Spanish Armada sailed past. HyperBallad weighs in at a hard Font 8b+/8c (or V14/15 in new currency). There's no telling just how truly funny this line is. I was rolling around on the floor for ages after doing the final moves but, come a genetic freak, it may be downgraded to a mere Brian Blessed-type roar, or it may not. And that's the thing, it's going to take someone who has experience at this level of joke-telling to appreciate the humour needed to tackle the severity of the overhang and the matchstick edged crimps. To be honest, I don't see the grade shifting to the negative. [1]

Unlikely to be a legitimate ascent given his history.
